Stephen “Raggamuffin” Marley comes from music royalty, as he is the son of iconic Jamaican reggae artist Bob Marley. He has clearly paved his own path as a five-time Grammy winning artist, producer and member of Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers. The Rastafarian artist is a regular on the tour circuit, where he has performed with siblings Ziggy and Damien, along with other famous acts such as Slightly Stoopid and Snoop Lion on the 2009 Blazed and Confused Tour. In the new year, Stephen will travel the United States, including concert stops at iconic venues like the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado, and House of Blues in Hollywood. The artist borrows reggae influences that his famous father made mainstream when he became an international sensation. He is also a political and social activist who commonly speaks up on issues regarding Jamaica, although he was born in the U.S. Stephen Marley released” Revelation Pt. 1 – The Root of Life” in 2011, which won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. The record features guest appearances from Ziggy and Damien, along with Melanie Fiona, who croons with Stephen on the single “No Cigarette Smoking (In My Room).”
The artist was born in Delaware, yet spent most of his childhood in Kingston, Jamaica. He joined Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers with three other siblings before his tenth birthday and has gone on to produce most of brother Damien’s three studio albums. Stephen is noted for his solo 2007 debut album “Mind Control” and 2003’s “Educated Fools” under the group name Marley Boyz. Tickets for Stephen’s upcoming U.S. tour are expected to sell fast as he plays songs from his 2011 Grammy-winning project as well as other classics.
