Rogue Machine is fortunate and excited to have two plays running concurrently at The Matrix theatre that are on the Stage Raw Top Ten list of productions in Los Angeles – and that examine and celebrate the black experience. In particular, tell stories of what it means to be a black woman in America.
The first, playing on the MainStage, is ‘can I touch it?’ by francisca da silveira. A world premiere comedy about gentrification and black women’s hair.
The second, another world premiere playing on our intimate Henry Murray Stage, is June Carryl’s ‘Blue’ a hard hitting, immersive drama about police culture, violence and where one woman’s loyalty lies. Critics are calling these plays “not to be missed”. ‘Can I touch it?’ runs thru June 11th. ‘Blue’ runs Thru June 5th. We hope you will join us for them. Also, Rogue Machine is proud to designate the Saturday, May 27th performance of ‘Blue’ a Black Out Night.
