Event Description
The author of How to Be an Antiracist, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, the 2020-2021 Book in Common, will participate in a conversation moderated by Dr. Kim Jaxon, Professor of English at Chico State, and Associated Students’ President and Agricultural Science and Education major, Bre Holbert.
The conversation will situate the central themes of the book, including definitions and examples of anti-racism and racism, and discuss how to move from reflection to taking meaningful action on issues of racial equity
Ibram X. Kendi’s concept of antiracism reenergizes and reshapes the conversation about racial justice in America–but even more fundamentally, points us toward liberating new ways of thinking about ourselves and each other. Instead of working with the policies and system we have in place, Kendi asks us to think about what an antiracist society might look like, and how we can play an active role in building it.
