Event Description

Join LACMA’s host Mitch Glickman for the first Meet the Musicians Live! on Zoom, a virtual music experience, featuring performers planned for the 2020 season. The events will include interviews with the musicians, live performances, and video clips from the groups.

This week, Mitch Glickman will be joined by legendary saxophonist and recording artist Azar Lawrence.

The event will feature video clips of Azar’s group, The Azar Lawrence Experience. Azar Lawrence is best known for his work with McCoy Tyner, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, and Elvin Jones. Lawrence started his career when he was 17 playing with Clark Terry and Muddy Waters on overseas tours and joined Tyner’s band as tenor saxophonist following John Coltrane’s death.
