Event Description
The Monterey Jazz Festival is the longest continuously-running jazz festival in the world and is held annually on the 20-acre, oak-studded Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, Calif. Since 1958, the nonprofit Monterey Jazz Festival has been committed to celebrating America’s creativity and cultural heritage by presenting legendary jazz musicians, composers, and young rising stars.
Artists include iconic keyboardist Herbie Hancock, superstar bassist/vocalist Thundercat, GRAMMY-winning New Artist of the Year Samara Joy, the collective Snarky Puppy, NEA Jazz Masters Charles Lloyd and Dianne Reeves; a career retrospective from Terence Blanchard, Christian McBride’s New Jawn, MJF66 Showcase Artist John Scofield & Yankee Go Home; award-winning vocalist Jamie Cullum, a commission piece from critically-acclaimed trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire featuring Oumou Sangare, and “a guitarist’s guitarist,” Isaiah Sharkey.
