Event Description

Community land trusts (CLTs) are a means of community ownership and stewardship of land. Liberty CLT was recently formed in December 2019 to address and combat the rampant gentrification and housing affordability crisis. We will intently and quickly bring community stakeholders together to preserve and create permanent affordable housing that will maintain Los Angeles’ cultural and economic diversity.

Join us at our first community meeting, where we will discuss some of our current thinking/plans, welcome new ideas, and lift up the remarkable story of America’s first CLT, New Communities Inc., started by Black Georgia sharecroppers through a screening of the short-documentary film Arc of Justice.

Community meeting attendees will:

– Leave with an understanding of the Community Land Trust model.

– Share their ideas on how to build community awareness and support for Liberty CLT.

– Be inspired by the entertaining short-documentary Arc of Justice and work of New Communities Inc. to take action.
