Event Description

During Domestic Violence awareness month, the Women’s Leadership Project and other community partners will launch an outdoor community action on disrupting rape culture and sexual violence against Black girls and women on Saturday, October 17th at 12:30 in Leimert Park on Degnan The action will focus on lifting up survivor voices while highlighting the need for more mental health and wellness resources specifically designated for Black girls across sexualities, the impasse on VAWA in the Senate, media invisibility of #MeToo vis-a-vis Black girls, and other policy issues related to the November election.  Endorsing orgs include Media Done Responsibly, Rights 4 Girls, Positive Results Corp, Peace Over Violence, the California Black Women’s Health Project, The CA Black Women’s Democratic Club and the YWCA Compton branch
