Event Description
The dynamic Los Angeles Malcolm X Festival, originally started in 1993 – 2007, is back and in full swing, offering an eclectic mix of live musical performances, poetry, spoken word, fashions, food, and intellectual discourse designed to ensure that the grand legacy of the iconic Muslim Minister is alive and growing. That stated, g rowing out of event founder Mr. Torrence Brannon-Reese’s 28 year old vision to solidly honor human rights advocate Malcolm X with a Street, is now closer to becoming a reality. “Adding Malcolm X’s name to Crenshaw in an area of the City that is primarily Black/African-American will significantly intersect with the Rosa Parks Freeway, Obama Blvd, Martin Luther King Blvd, Sankofa Park, and Nipsey Hussle Square. It will also coincide with the City’s Destination Crenshaw Project, and most importantly, will pay homage to our legendary ancestor and human rights advocate”, stated Mr. Msonga-Mbele Andre Parvenu, project co-coordinator and city planner.
