Event Description

Our Authors Study Club, Inc. (OASC) welcomes you to its Virtual Black History Tour of Los Angeles. This year’s tour will present sites integral to the culture, history, and contributions of African Americans in and around the City of Angels.

You will have a closer look into Biddy Mason and her Memorial Wall; the families and businesses that occupied LA’s historic Sugar Hill; The Island; the life and sites of Historic Central Avenue; the artistry of Leimert Park; Watts and Compton; and other sites and surrounding communities relevant to the African American experience and diversity in the greater Los Angeles Area.

Some like, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument where the Founders Plaque acknowledges that 26 of the 44 pobladores (founding settlers) were of African descent, are well known.

However, the tour will provide information and/or images that may be unknown to many and can’t be seen on a bus.

Ride the ZOOM with us for 90 minutes of Black history, empowerment, and pride revealed in our past and present contributions to the greater Los Angeles Area.
