Event Description

Come enjoy a selection of Women’s Heritage films during Women’s Heritage Month. This week the Film Festival is featuring Hidden Figures (rated PG), an incredible & inspiring untold true story about three women at NASA who were instrumental in one of history’s greatest operations – the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe.

The Wanda Coleman Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library was dedicated to the late Wanda Coleman, the woman often referred to as the “unofficial poet laureate” of Los Angeles, in November 2015 on behest of the many requests from her fans, friends, students, and family. A plaque was installed in her honor at the Dedication and Naming Ceremony. This library is one that Coleman frequented as a child.
