In celebration of Black History Month, the SBVC Arts, Lectures & Diversity committee presents the Black Film Festival.
It is our hope to highlight movies which have evoked strong and poignant points of view, and discuss the themes presented in each film and its relevance to today’s culture and society.
Our 2nd selection is Boots Riley’s 2018 film, Sorry To Bother You, featuring an all star cast including Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Terry Crews, Danny Glover, Steven Yeun, David Cross, Forest Whitaker, Rosario Dawson and Armie Hammer.
In an alternate present-day version of Oakland, telemarketer Cassius Green discovers a magical, if ethically and ethnically ambiguous key to professional success, propelling him into a universe of greed.
Our festival continues on February 14, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the SBVC Library Viewing Room 149…and will continue every Thursday evening for the month of February…with a film discussion to follow each presentation.
Admission and parking are free.
