UCLA’s Black Transfer community is excited to welcome Community College students to the experiences of Black Bruins!
About this Event:
The Afrikan Diaspora Experience (ADE) will bring prospective Black transfer students from Santa Barbara Community College, Compton Community College, Los Angeles City College, and Santa Monica City College together to see firsthand the opportunities that will be afforded to them as future UCLA students. The event will be hosted and facilitated by volunteers from the Afrikan Student Union. The day will begin with a student led People of Color tour to emphasize the presence and impact of students of color throughout the UCLA’s history. After a short break, the students will be given the opportunity to participate in Black Wednesday, an event hosted by the various organizations within the Afrikan Student Union at UCLA, that allows all students to celebrate various aspects of Black student life and culture on a weekly basis. After, lunch will be provided. Next, the prospective students will participate in a Black transfer student panel, which will include a guided discussion and end with a Question & Answer segment. ADE will conclude with a presentation on the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), created and presented by IGETC certified student volunteers.
